At Trustmark and Amwins Benefits, our shared goal is to support brokers with underwriting processes that promote pricing confidence, renewal predictability, and long‑term client success.
Following a review of last year’s simplified underwriting pilot with Amwins Benefits, Trustmark will conclude the pilot for quotes effective 6/1/2026 and return to a consistent underwriting approach across all distribution channels.
In most cases, this means employee medical questionnaires (IMQs) will be required for groups with 5–24 lives, consistent with how small groups are underwritten across Trustmark’s broader broker channel. Traditional (IMQ) underwriting continues to deliver meaningful advantages for brokers and their small‑group clients, including:
- Greater pricing confidence at quote, supported by deeper insight into a group’s risk profile
- More consistent renewal outcomes, helping employers plan and budget with greater predictability
- Among IMQ‑underwritten groups reaching their first renewal, about 27% renewed within 5% of expected trend, and more than half renewed within 10% of trend
- Directionally, IMQ‑underwritten groups are nearly twice as likely to receive renewal results closer to expected trend compared to simplified approaches
- Strong persistency in the 5–24 life segment, with retention running 16% higher than larger group sizes—supporting long‑term plan fit and stability
IMQ underwriting can be facilitated through FormFire, providing a secure, digital experience for employees while helping brokers efficiently manage submissions. Once Trustmark has all required information, underwritten quotes are typically turned around within 24–48 hours, helping you move opportunities forward quickly and confidently.
