Your CalChoice groups have more time, more stability, and more options.

CalChoice will continue accepting new Small Group business that includes Health Net membership through January 1, 2027, effective dates.

Also, CalChoice will continue offering Health Net plans to renewing CalChoice groups through January 1, 2027, and those members can keep their plan for a full 12‑month cycle from their renewal date.

This extended timeline gives your CalChoice groups a smoother, more controlled transition path than what Health Net direct groups will experience.

When CalChoice groups transition off Health Net, they don’t start over.

CalChoice’s multi‑carrier program ensures employees have multiple ways to access the doctors, hospitals, and networks they want — not just one. When Health Net plans sunset, members can move to another carrier within our portfolio of six remaining health plans, often with continuity in their preferred providers.

This is exactly why CalChoice was built: Choice today. Stability tomorrow. Protection from single‑carrier disruption.

Special Underwriting Promotion for Health Net Direct Groups

To support your brokers and their Health Net direct groups, CaliforniaChoice is offering a special underwriting promotion for new business effective dates from September 1, 2026, through January 1, 2027.

Eligible groups with 1 or more medically enrolled subscribers may submit their most recent Health Net invoice instead of a DE 9C. To qualify, groups must meet the following criteria:

  • Health Net invoice must be fully reconciled
  • A current pay stub is required for any subscriber not listed on the invoice
  • Owners enrolling who are not listed on the invoice must provide a signed Owner/Partner Statement
  • At least 51% of eligible employees must be located in California
  • Owner-only groups are not eligible

All standard CaliforniaChoice eligibility criteria apply to this promotion.

This promotion is designed to make transitioning Health Net direct groups into CalChoice easier, faster, and more predictable — giving brokers a long‑term solution that protects clients from future carrier disruptions.

A strategic opportunity for your Health Net direct groups

For your Health Net direct book of business, this market exit presents a clear moment to evaluate CalChoice as a long‑term solution. Talk to your brokers about bringing those groups into CalChoice. We can insulate them from future carrier exits, network shifts, or plan disruptions — while giving employers and employees a broader set of plan designs and provider access options.
