We’re pleased to announce that Sutter Health Plan will begin partnering with Vida Health to offer members personalized virtual health and wellness programs at no additional cost.

Vida offers support for weight loss, nutrition, fitness, stress management and chronic conditions — all through an easy-to-use app with live coaching and clinical guidance.^*

As part of this partnership, the requirements for weight loss drug coverage are being updated.

As a reminder, your clients’ Evidence of Coverage (EOC) documents state that Sutter Health Plan may require participation in a comprehensive weight loss program for weight loss drugs to be covered. Beginning March 1, 2026, members age 18 and over will need to enroll in a Vida weight loss program and show monthly engagement to qualify for coverage for weight loss drugs.^*

There is no change to member outpatient prescription drug benefits. Weight loss drugs continue to be covered by Sutter Health Plan for those who qualify.

These updates ensure that weight loss drug therapy is supported by proven lifestyle and clinical programs that improve safety, effectiveness and long-term success.

Soon, Sutter Health Plan will begin sending emails to all employers and letters and emails to members who have a current prior authorization for a drug prescribed for weight loss to share these new requirements. Vida will also begin sending information to all members about available programs and how to enroll in March 2026.
