As you may have heard, Health Net has announced its exit from California's commercial group market. For groups currently enrolled in Health Net HMO products, this presents an opportunity to consider Sutter Health Plan as a long-term solution that offers continuity, convenience and access to high-quality care.

As Sutter's provider-sponsored health plan, they deliver a connected experience by bringing coverage and care together. This integrated approach helps simplify the healthcare journey for employers and employees alike.

With Sutter Health Plan, your clients and their employees can continue receiving care from the Sutter providers they know and trust. Members maintain access to Sutter physicians, specialists, hospitals and care centers across their network, helping minimize disruption during the transition.

To support Health Net groups moving to Sutter Health Plan, for groups effective October 2027 - January 2027, they will:

  • Allow small groups to submit the Health Net carrier invoice in lieu of a DE9C
  • Extend the small group monthly enrollment submission deadline from the 10th to the 15th of the month
  • Honor existing primary care physician (PCP) relationships with contracted providers in the Sutter Health Plan network
  • Honor approved and pending prior authorizations for services provided by Sutter Health
  • Apply deductible credits toward applicable medical expenses for eligible members
  • Extend plan agreements to 13 or 14 months for large group clients transitioning in November or December 2026

Sutter Health Plan's goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible while helping members maintain uninterrupted access to the care teams and services they rely on every day.

Coverage and care, connected. That's the Sutter Health Plan difference.
