On August 26, 2026, Lee Health issued a notice to UnitedHealthcare ending their network relationship effective December 31, 2026. UnitedHealthcare has released the following statement in response:

Lee Health's decision to end our current agreement came without any advance notice or dialogue. There have been no prior discussions, negotiations or indications from the health system concerning our network relationship.

We believe that productive conversations, rather than public threats that leverage patients, are in the best interests of the communities we collectively serve. While we are disappointed by Lee Health's tactics, we remain committed to using the more than four months remaining on our contract to engage in good-faith negotiation and reach a long-term agreement that provides continued access to Lee Health at an affordable cost for families and employers.
